Fact or fiction?

Eerie stories. Half of them are true.

A deep, calm voice tells you a strange story: a lonely farmhouse, a knock on a lighthouse door, a ship that refuses to disappear. Then it's your call. Did it really happen, or is it pure invention?

Fact or Fable: Fact or fiction?

How it works

  1. Listen or read

Each story runs 6 to 10 minutes. Read it yourself or have it read to you: on headphones, in the car, or in the dark.

  2. Guess

Then comes the one question: fact or fable? One tap, no take-backs. Your first answer counts.

  3. The reveal

Find out what's behind it. True cases come with sources you can check; invented ones show you the details that were meant to fool you.

Made for listening

The stories are written for the ear: no lists, no footnotes, pauses in the right places. Put your phone away and just listen.

On road trips

One story per stretch of highway, then the whole car argues it out: true or made up?

On headphones

On your commute, on a walk, on the train. Playback keeps going with the screen off.

Late at night

Lights off, voice on. Slightly creepy, never gory. A good way to wind down.

FAQ

What is Fact or Fable?

An app with 100 slightly creepy mystery stories. About half of them really happened; the rest are invented. After each story you guess which kind it is, then you get the reveal.

How much does it cost?

The download and the first 3 stories are free. The full version is a one-time €4.99 and unlocks every story, including all future ones. There is no subscription.

Who reads the stories?

A deep, calm narrator voice created with speech synthesis. You can pause at any time, skip 15 seconds back or forward, and pick up later right where you left off.

How do I know the true stories are real?

Every true story is based on a documented case. The reveal lists sources you can read and explains what's on record and what was dramatized.

How scary are the stories?

Eerie, not brutal. The tension comes from atmosphere: fog, empty houses, sounds in the night. No violence, no gore.

Do I need an account?

No. Fact or Fable works without sign-up, ads or tracking. Your progress stays on your device.
